Báo Người Lao động – Sex education at an early age helps children understand themselves correctly and is an important tool for protecting them from risks of abuse and for developing life skills.
On January 28, at Hoa Mi Kindergarten, Thi Tinh Hamlet, Long Hoa Commune, Ho Chi Minh City, a professional workshop was held for a cluster of 14 schools. The focus was on applying AI and Erakis in sex education and skills to prevent abuse for children in schools.
This practical activity was designed to educate preschool-aged children about gender and their bodies, serving as a foundation for building strong awareness for the future.
Teachers asked children questions about gender differences. Without proper guidance, children may easily misunderstand or feel embarrassed about their bodies.
Timely education helps children recognize that every person’s body is unique and special. Children learn that the body is a natural part of life and should be respected. This also helps the child develop self-confidence and lays a solid foundation for positive psychological development later in life.
One of the most important reasons for teaching children about gender and sexuality is to help them learn how to protect themselves from potential abuse. When children understand their bodies and personal boundaries, they are better able to recognize unsafe situations and know how to refuse or seek help from adults.
At the professional workshop, in addition to teachers from the cluster of 14 schools, many parents of Hoa Mi Kindergarten students also attended.
Dr. Mai My Hanh from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education spoke about sex education and skills to prevent abuse for children in schools.
